Be Prepared For Airport Security Checks
You will find security checks in virtually every airport worldwide these days. If you want avoid those checks as frequent flyers already do, you need to learn a few tricks that will allow you and everyone around you to save precious travel time. Plan ahead, and avoid doing this just before you head to the security check line.
Remove all loose change from your pockets. Wallets and mobile phones will also have to be placed into a seperate box for screening purposes. Bulky watches, bracelets, and belt buckles should be removed also as they are more than likely to set of the alarm. One good tip would be to stow them in your hand luggage beforehand.
Mahe sure that you only carry on your alloted number of hand luggage items as if you try and carry more, airport security will give you a tough time and may even force you to conform to the airline rules.
You may also have to take your shoes off due to the infamous shoe bomber, so slip-on shoes will make things a lot easier for you and you can always change them after. This is normally quite a quick check and in some airports it is only carried out randomly.
Make sure that you only carry on one quart/one liter of liquids in the plastic bag supplied before checkin, and that anything above that amount is securely packed into your hold luggage. Should you require "medically necessary" liquids and even baby food, these items do not have to be in the plastic bag but you are advised to notify the security check official.
The actual way that you pack your hand luggage can save time when it comes to putting everything back again, so if you follow the following general guidelines, waiting time will be significantly reduced.
First you should place your shoes, overcoat and your carry-on "personal items" in the first plastic holder. This will allow you time to put everything back on while the following items are being screened.
If you're carrying a portable PC, put your carry-on bag for your laptop in the plastic holder before your portable PC, then when your portable PC comes through, you'll be ready to put it away.
If you do experience unforseen problems during the security check, stand to oneside or take a seat if available, as not to cause a queue, that will eventaully cause you to waste more time.
Most experienced travelers have a plan of action before traveling and save time, so the next time you fly take these basic guidelines into consideration and avoid costly delays at the security check.
